Digging ditches (day 3 EE)

[Daidoji Nobu]

As the Fourth Kaisha settled into camp, Daidoji Nobu joined a small detail that set to digging ditches just outside the camp, mostly for sanitation rather than fortification as an attack while crossing the Crane provinces seemed vanishingly unlikely. After a long day of marching, none of the men were much in the mood for this inglorious but necessary work, and spirits were low.

Nobu paused a moment in his efforts to lean against his shovel and wipe the sweat from his brow.

It wasn't until Nobu put down the shovel that he heard the chime of a bell.

And then there was a towel being held out in front of his face from behind.

Nobu blinked at the sudden appearance of a towel, then gratefully accepted it. He began to mop the sweat from his forehead with the towel when he recognized the masked Scorpion officer. "Thank you, Shosuro-chui," he said, bowing low. "I did not mean to put you to this trouble."

[Shosuro Fuwanan]

The bow was returned with a faint jingling of bells.

"Think nooooooothing of it, Daidoji-san. I just happened to be passssing by with a towel and you had a neeeed for it." he said with a bright smile.

He surveyed the work.

"While you might be stuggggling, it would seeeeem you have motivated Hida-san to work eeeeven harder."

[Daidoji Nobu]

Helping out Hida Yoshiko. She used her training to carry bags of sand to make things more stable.

"Hida-san's efforts are indeed noteworthy," Nobu agreed. "Perhaps she could benefit from this towel more than I?"

Moving closer to Yoshiko, the big Crane offered her the towel, if she wanted it.

[Hida Yoshiko]

"Eh?" She looked at Nobu a bit surprised. "Ah...arigatou" Yoshiko bowed and took the towel and clean some sweat from her brow.

[Daidoji Nobu]

"The towel belongs to Shosuro-chui," the big Crane explained. "But it looked like you were working hard, and perhaps could use it."

"I'm called Daidoji Nobu," he added.

[Hida Yoshiko]

"An honor to meet you Daidoji san. This one is Hida Yoshiko" She gave a bow. "I just want to help out anyway I can."

[Daidoji Nobu]

"I feel the same way, Hida-san," the big Crane said with a grin. "It's through all our combined efforts that the Legion grows stronger."

[Hida Yoshiko]

"I should thank Shosuro san for the towel." The tall Hida moved to the Shosuro.

The Scorpion smiled brightly at the Crab.

He bowed back to her, the sounds of tiny bells ringing audible to her.

"Of cooooourse, Hida-san. We are comrades, are weeeeee not? If one must sweat, and another has a towel, should they not offer it up? If you cannot offer a towel, then how can you offer something even more deeeeear?"

[Hida Yoshiko]

Yoshiko nodded and smiled. "Of course Shosuro san... it isnpart of being part of a team, neh?" Yoshiko looked at the Daidoji. "Daidoji san did a good job to try protect the camp. Each of us can place a grain of rice to fill up the basket."
