[Day 2, Midnight] Somebody Has To Do It (Open)

[Usagi Kaigen]

Another night, another midnight watch for Usagi Kaigen.

His performance in helping prepare the Legion to march had thus far has been, to be charitable, utterly awful. He might well have heard some muttering.

If so, he gave no sign.

Instead, he simply repeated the prior night's patrol.

Besides muttering, what he did here was a faint rhymtic sound, very faint at first but increasing as volume the more time went on. Eventually it was close enough to distinguish from the muttering.

The sound of tiny bells.

At first the white makeup gave it the appearance of a ghost, but it was the all too solid form of a Scorpion.

Spotting the Hare, the Scorpion made his approach.

"Ah, Uuuuuuusagi-san," said the man with a short bow. "Is everything allllll quiet on your patrol tonight?"

"Ah gooood, so very goooood to know, Usagi-san." he says as if that was just the best news ever. "I dooooo have a question about your patrol route. Did your route happen to take yooooou in the vicinity of a certain Chief of Logictics tent?"

Well, that was certainly a potentially dangerous question.

But having done absolutely no work whatsoever in Logistics, it took Kaigen a moment to remember who the hell the Chief of Logistics might be, which meant he could probably answer in safety.

"It has not, Shosuro-sama. In truth, this one has not been in that part of the camp much at all, on patrol or off."

"Aaaaah, I see. Truly that is a shaaaame, Usagi-san." he said, though the smile remained. "I have heard some whispers of possible trouble coming her way. And whiiiiile I have no love for her personally, it would be veeeeery disruptive to the army should the darkest of them come true."

"Alas, were the whispers more concrete, perhaaaaaps something more official could be done to avert her possibly tragic fate. As it stands, aaaaalllll I can really say is that should your patrol take you by her tent, and should you seeeee any suspicious individuals lurking or loitering about her tent as she sleeps the sleep of the just, you might find it...pruuuudent to not simply write it off as unimportant." he suggested with a smile.

Despite the Scorpion's odd manner of speech, the emphasis on the words Villians may have hinted to the Hare just where this particular Scorpion was hearing dark whispers from, and why he was entrusting this to someone not even under his direct command, rather than, say, a Scorpion serving under him.
