[Day 1, Midnight] Rise and Shine! (Open)

[Usagi Kaigen]

"Been through it a few times. Actually spent a nice month there a year or two back."

[Osoroshii]

"Then you know that place by the river, the one with the good noodles. What was it, Oishi Udon?"

[Usagi Kaigen]

That got a fresh grin.

"Oishi Ichiban Udon. Still there, far as I know. Dunno how they manage to make that broth, but it never fails to impress."

[Osoroshii]

"Must've added the name since I was there last," Osoroshii muses. He gestures at his hair. "It has, admittedly, been a while. But I'm glad to know it's still going.

"I'd imagine, what's her name, Emi is running the place now." He sighs. "I hope she's doing okay."

[Usagi Kaigen]

"Well, she's a grandmother now... think that might part of the secret, only grandmothers allowed in charge..."

[Osoroshii]

Osoroshii clutches a hand to his heart.

"A grandmother, you say?" leaves his lips with deliberate over-drama. "Why, then, I am an ancient! For I remember her in the first blooms of youth, when I was barely more than a sapling myself!

"But I am glad she seems to have found happiness--or purpose, at least."

[Usagi Kaigen]

"Eh, just means you're a survivor, same as she is."

Kaigen glanced up at the night sky.

"For a very long time, by the sound of it."

He might have been grinning. In the light, it could have been hard to tell.

[Osoroshii]

Osoroshii snorts a laugh.

"Flattering command might work with some, young Hare," he says, a hint of laughter in his voice. "But life on the waves drowns many a man and woman. I know I'm fortunate to have found such harbor as I have in the Rikugunshokan."

[Usagi Kaigen]

"Fortunate, perhaps. But no one gives a man of the waves anything. I would say the Rikugunshokan would agree you've earned whatever harbor you have found."

[Osoroshii]

"He might," Osoroshii allows.

"But the night draws on," he continues. "I'd imagine you'll do better making a full patrol, and I probably ought to see about surprising some other soldier standing sentry."

A grin and a nod.

"Carry the Fortunes, Usagi-san."

[Usagi Kaigen]

"And you, Osoroshii-sama. We ever both find ourselves in Meidochi, first bowl of noodles is on me."
