Hida Masayuki Q&A

Question Away! Hida Masayuki will go wherever he is assigned next. Most likely, I would not reprise this character unless requested.
I enjoyed interacting with everyone.

Whither Masayuki, if not the next game?

Thinking of trying a different character maybe. I am not 100% opposed to keeping him around. He could always get transferred again, stay in the legion, lower level court, settle down and start a family....

What did you like most about the game narratively? What did you like least about the game narratively?
What did you like most about the game mechanically? What did you like least about the game mechanically?
What would you really like to see in the next game that wasn't in this game?
You did well, Masayuki, you brought strong Crab flavor to our game where we go to the wall

Beware the DREADED FORM QUESTIONS!
1. Biggest curveball Masayuki threw you?
2. Biggest curveball the game threw you?
3. Biggest Missed Opportunity?

Narratively, including backstories into the narration was a big plus; least was probably the extent of marching compared to interacting (thought that might be my fault)
Mechanically, this was my first time with FF dice and it took some getting used to. I don't understand the purpose of blank dice, and if it's for the math, they could have done something better. Mechanically I liked the easier availability in the posts for advantages and disadvantages.
Would there be the ability to use additional opportunities from the core rule book, or does that make it an admin nightmare?

Knowing when to share information that isn't refined to other players. It took me a while to get comfortable with that.
Opposite reactions from Kumiko and Hametsu made Masayuki very nervous.
Totally blew the opportunity to see his nemesis. So sad. But, those are the breaks.

I'll tag in on the blank dice. Among other things, there are techniques that specifically let you manipulate blank dice. Did they plan that far ahead for the Ishiken using blank dice to power void magic? Not sure since that was 4-5 books down the line. But it does seem like a deliberate choice to have blank faces to manipulate in their design space.

Any advice on what I could have done better?

Not sure if that's for me or in general. XD But since I commented on dice, I'm going with that bit.
Dicewise? I don't think I looked closely enough at yours to have any. I will say that poking the probability tab to look at things like "how much better/worse does 5k2 with a TN2 vs. 6k3 with a TN3 look" have been interesting in shaping my own choices of what skill/element to use.
Otherwise? These dice definitely feel swingier than 4e, with wildly different results on the same pool. It feels like you even that out by getting the biggest pool to pick from that you can through advancement over time.

Thank you! Any advice from anyone is helpful. I appreciate the tip.
