Yoshiko sat down on the eating area. She bore a bowl of rice and edamame. She just smiled no matter what had happened during the day. She tends to forget the bad and try to see a bright future ahead.

Socializing was not something that came easily to Mukai, nor something she really cared that much about to be honest, but preparedness - that she understood. Who better to provide information on what they should expect than a Crab?
Steeling what little social energy she had the Unicorn approaches the smiling giant trying her best not to be unsettled by a countenance that was so very alien to her own.
"Hida-san, do you mind?" She sighs, once again remembering that manners exist even if she's heard that Crab aren't much for them either - but better safe than sorry, she bows, "I mean, do you mind if I join you? I'm Utaku Mukai."

The Hida motion for the Utaku to sit down. "Not at all Utaku san... every one is welcome." She took an edamame and plucked it into her mouth. Yoshiko swallowed. "Recieving Inari's blessing before nightly endeavors is good for the soul."

Well, that was not what she expected. Nary a belch nor a scratching of self anywhere in sight. She knew not to put too much stake in rumors but they did tend to be all she had to go on prior to this assignment. Of course she might have preferred if they were true....
"Uh, yeah, it's definitely good to have a solid meal." She nods, her face failing at any attempt to smile, "I was wondering if I might learn more about where we're going, and what to expect when we get there, if you don't mind?"

Yoshiko sighed. "It has been a long time since I have been to The Wall." The girl took some rice before putting it in her mouth, she said. "It is a big deal if we are to battle a waking oni. Things tend to chaos and darkness loom." She munched her rice. "Or something like that."

Mukai, of course, did not pick up that this was perhaps not a desired not appropriate topic, "From the tales I heard told it was either endless slaughter or children's tales the Crab use to excuse their expansion. I assumed the truth must lie somewhere in between. The Emperor, and Empire, are not so foolish as to allow the latter for centuries no matter how skilled the tale-teller and if the former there would be no more Crab left unless you birthed in litters with swords in hand."
She touches a pouch at her belt, "I did obtain jade. Is there anything else I should prepare?"

For his part, Kaigen wandered through, grabbed a bowl, got it filled the way underfed wiry types often do given a chance to not be so underfed, and quietly found an out of the way spot in which to demolish his take.
After all, he was going to be asleep very, very soon.

"Stories will be just that stories. Yes, there is... death..." She sighed but moved to the question asked. "Do you have a hobby? Something to keep the mind occupied." She nodded "Tend to play go."

Yoshiko smiled at the Usagi passing by, waving to the man.

"Never tried go." There weren't many folks to play against with her past duties but she understood having to find ways to keep oneself occupied, "Mainly focused on my archery. And the animals."

The Hare nodded in reply, but didn't inject himself into the conversation just yet- instead setting about the consumption of his meal with something akin to unseemly haste.

Yoshiko nodded. "I could use some archery practice to better my stance. I am not that good at go but it helps me strategize better." She seemed intrigued by the animals. "Well, color me interested in you animal friends. I would like to one day meet a fox up close." She showed her her
fox charm.

She offers a rare smile, "They are quite fun to watch. Very social and playful if they haven't been startled away. Perhaps if we're lucky the march will take us through territory they are likely to den. Though I imagine they'll be a bit more timid and scarce with all the noise and commotion it will bring."

"Hopefully, we can be blessed by such." Yoshiko nodded. "Luck may be on our side." The Hida smiled.

"I shall keep my eyes open and, should I see signs, I'll let you know." She takes a moment to silently consider the very tall woman, "How are you at being quiet?" It was not intended as a rude question, a bear's passing was often more quiet than that of a squirrel, but thinking of ways to tactfully phrase things was not often the Mukai way.

The Hida considered the question placing her chopsticks on her lips. She kept it up for a few breaths maybe to show Mukai that she could be quiet or just a slip of her mind to Meido. "Hmmm..." was the sound after a few breaths. "My training has taught me to know when to be silent when an enemy approaches and when to be loud. Tactics of battle Utaku san...A wolf howls to the moon when it wants to be seen but in a hunt he moves quietly to get its prey."

Mukai nods with satisfaction, "Good, you get it then. Some people move through the wilds like they're wearing sandals five sizes too big. If you were the latter it would be damn hard not to scare off the foxes. I'd have still tried, sure, but that's good to know."

"I am difficult to hide though. My height hinders me from staying too low. But I think we can work something out." The Hida chuckled.

"That should not be a great issue, at least when it comes to animals, it is more a matter of silence and stillness. They tend to be focused lower to the ground most of the time and a leg is a leg no matter how high the rest of you might reach."

Yoshiko nodded "That is good to know. Maybe I can make some animal friends. I lack training but i have the willingnessto learn how to make new friends. " The Hida nodded.

"Friendship is difficult." It was unclear if Mukai was speaking of animals, people, or both, "But at the least I think we can manage observation with a little effort."
