How a Legion sets out does much for how it will continue. Getting the Legion off to a good start, therefore, will help it arrive at its destination in good order and ready to do what needs doing, and it is the task of every loyal samurai to help speed the Legion on its way.
For the event, participating characters will start with full Void, Composure, and Endurance; these do not refresh between attempts. They may attempt a number of activities listed below equal to their Focus; each activity may be attempted more than once, but the TNs involved in that activity increase by 1 for each attempt after the first. Opportunities may *only* be spent as follows:
- Opp+: Negate 1 Strife from the roll per Opp spent this way (Water Opps negate 2 Strife).
- 2 Opps+: Gain one Information Tidbit per 2 Opps spent this way; roll 2d20 to determine which.
- Successfully completing 3 separate activities adds 1 to each of the Legion’s Strength and Discipline.
- Successfully completing all 5 activities adds an additional 1 to each of the Legion’s Strength and Discipline (cumulative with the above), and it awards 5 points of Glory.
- Failing on more attempts than are successfully completed imposes a penalty of 1 point each to the Legion’s Strength and Discipline, as well as reducing the PC’s Glory by 5 points.
Each player may contribute their total number of points earned for the Legion to the overall metagame, supporting the Left or Right Hand; any uncommitted points will be awarded to the Underhand.

The Legion’s Logistics Chief, Taisa Otosanuchi no Karen, is at work ensuring that the needed supplies are available for the Legion’s setting forth and that appropriate resupply depots are arranged along the Legion’s path. The latter work is more difficult and requires more of her direct attention, so assistance with the former will be invaluable.
To assist Karen, a PC may roll one of the following skills in an Earth approach against a TN of 2: Smithing, Commerce, Labor, Seafaring. Success earns 1 point for the Legion’s DISCIPLINE, plus 1 additional point per 2 bonus successes. Failure reduces the Legion’s STRENGTH by 1.
Advantages/Disadvantages triggered while working with Najimi: Subtle Observer, Secrets, Flowery Language, Seasoned, Irrepressable FlirtationAssisting the Operations Chief (Hour of the Serpent)
While the Legion’s commanders, Mirumoto-rikugunshokan and Osoroshii-shireikan, are handling the overall planning of the Legion’s mission, the Operations Chief, Taisa Bayushi Najimi, has to ensure that the members of the Legion know what they need to know to be able to do their duties to the Empire. With only one of her, however, and a full Legion assembling, there is much to do.
To assist Najimi, a PC may roll one of the following skills in a Fire approach against a TN of 2: Command, Tactics, Survival, Labor. Success earns 1 point for the Legion’s DISCIPLINE, plus 1 additional point per 2 bonus successes. Failure reduces the Legion’s DISCIPLINE by 1.
Advantages/Disadvantages triggered while working with Undomei: Whispers of Cruelty, Maimed Visage, Talented HerbalistAssisting the Staff Physician (Hour of the Horse)
The Staff Physician, Taisa Isawa Undomiei, is working to ensure that the samurai of the Legion are fit to travel and will be fit to fight when they arrive at their destination. There are a lot of people to assess, however, and few physicians to do the work. Perhaps some assistance could be rendered?
To assist Undomiei, a PC may roll one of the following skills in an Air approach against a TN of 2: Aesthetics, Theology, Medicine, Fitness. Success earns 1 point for the Legion’s STRENGTH, plus 1 additional point per 2 bonus successes. Failure reduces the Legion’s STRENGTH by 1.
Advantages/Disadvantages triggered while working with Akako: Expert Tracker, Subtle Observer, Secrets, Cognitive Lapses, Fukurokujin's Blessing, Curiousity, Keen SightAssisting the Intelligence Chief (Hour of the Goat)
The Legion’s Intelligence Chief, Taisa Hiruma Akako, is at work gathering relevant information about the members of the Legion and about the path forward. The prompt delivery of that information will be of value in ensuring that the Legion is beset by neither internal nor external problems.
To assist Akako, a PC may roll one of the following skills in a Water approach against a TN of 2: Culture, Government, Sentiment, Skulduggery. Success earns 1 point for the Legion’s STRENGTH, plus 1 additional point per 2 bonus successes. Failure reduces the Legion’s DISCIPLINE by 1.
Advantages/Disadvantages triggered while working with Ugemi: Delusions of Grandeur, Jealousy, Perfectionist, Ebisu's Curse, Conspiracy, Whispers of DoomAssisting the Aide-de-Camp (Hour of the Monkey)
The Aide-de-Camp is serving as a liaison between the high-ranking commanders--the CO and XO--and the rest of the Legion. As such, Miya Ugemi is particularly harried at the moment, and any assistance will be decidedly welcome.
To assist Ugemi, a PC may select their Status OR their Glory and roll that as Skill dice (for Status, 0 dice for less than 30, 1 die for 30-34, 2 dice for 35-39, 3 dice for 40-44, 4 dice for 45+; for Glory, 1 die for every 2 points of Glory over 40, round down, max 5) + Void, keeping Void, against a TN of 2. Success earns 1 point to apply to EITHER the Legion’s Strength OR its Discipline, at the player’s choice; every two additional successes adds one additional point. Failure reduces EITHER the Legion’s Strength OR its Discipline by 1 point, at the player’s choice.
Points earned from each attempt on this action cannot be divided. That is, an attempt earning 2 points can apply both to Strength OR Discipline, but not 1 to each. Two attempts earning 1 point each can apply 1 to Strength AND 1 to Discipline, or 2 to Strength OR Discipline.
