Daidoji Hayabe wants only to be a good samurai; in service to his clan and empire he is ready and more than a little eager to march south and face destiny. He carries with him a nagamaki of Crab make and decoration aside from a tsuba that depicts a crane perched upon an oni’s skull; it’s wings stretched towards the heavens. Hayabe is direct and honest with his words, often using as few words as honor and the situation demands. He is an experienced scout spending most of his time stationed along the Scorpion border. He takes his duty very seriously and is rarely “off duty” unless in a bath or sake house; the later of which he rarely indulges in. Hayabe knows he stands out and that some look down on him because of it but as long as those opinions don't get in the way of his duty he couldn't care less.

[Shosuro Kheree]

This young woman is quite hard to overlook, taller then most men outside of the Crab, and yet quite slender she calls to home a willow or reed bending in the wind. Despite her long hair that she usually let freely flow in the wind she has a touch of androgynous to her, not quite helped by her chest.
She is at home outdoors, and inside, even if she wears boots that are not quite appropriate inside most cultural contexts, while she has a hint of strangeness in her style as someone that combines the scorpions fashion sense with unicorn elements is a rare sight to see. The red mask like paint is clearly something that she is still experimenting with now that she belongs to the children of bayushi.

One thing that sticks out is the great raven that accompanies her even in court, often sitting on her shoulder, or wrist, a small silk band at his legs to make it clear that she isn't a wild animal. Furthermore she is wearing a scimitar with a red stone in the hilt quite visible and gauche compared to a Katana.

Ever since being married she found some new joys, even if some of her old itches and issues remain which is after all likely to lead her to got into more trouble then usual for her.

Hida Masayuki, being the first born son of Hida Tomoro and Hida Kamiko, was named after his most revered great grandfather. The family lived together with his maternal grandmother provincially, not far from Kyuden Hida. He remembers small occurrences from the fateful day his family was murdered by a Ronin Ganbataar and his companions, though Masayuki was but the age of 4. Masayuki was the sole survivor and still bears the scars of the attack. The lasting effects have been the scar on the left side of his face and the trauma of his loss at a young age. Additionally, he was raised by his overbearing aunt who would never let him forget that vengeance is the primary duty if the Ronin is ever encountered.

Masayuki started his career as a soldier on the wall, sometimes foraging into the Shadowlands. His fellow soldiers used to joke that he would have made a good scout. A few years later, he began to represent the clan on diplomatic visits in order to assist in persuading others to join them on the wall. Many of the more accomplished court members were taken aback by his scar or whispered about his nervous demeanor, though his points were well-taken. He has been recently been assigned to the Imperial Legion under Daidoji Kumiko and is looking forward to returning back where it all started.

[Isawa Mari]

Marital Status: Betrothals never seem to stick.

Not exactly what one expects of a Legionnaire, but there's no great advantage to a longer reach or a frame accustomed to heavy armor in the healer's tent. The ribbons though...a little out of place in an army. An offering to the spirits of air? Omamori of protection? Simply a sign of shugenja quirkiness? Kind of hard to tell just by looking.

Mari's been assigned to the Legion for the past 4 years and shows little ambition to move up in the ranks. She's a steady and skilled healer, though there are rumors that she can be a bit high strung at times. Like ...the incident with the new horses brought in for the march. At least a few folks recognized the earth spirits called up as a jade strike on the odd-eyed horse she swore must be a shapeshifting spirit who'd disrupt the march. Thankfully battle horses are trained to be the opposite of high-strung and it seemed mildly annoyed, but unhurt by the nonsense.

[Agasha Daikumo]

Daikumo isn't exactly being gotten rid of by his family by sending him to the legions. It doesn't really work that way after all, this is a relatively prestigious appointment. But they do recognize that he doesn't really... fit?... that's a good word. His nature is not as congenial as the his sister or parents, he's not as courteous at all times as he should be... and he knows how to be so it's really a conscious choice. The only thing he and his family have in common is his training, and he does pretty well as a shugenja and smith. But the personality clashes make working together a hassle for his family at times. They believe that military life might actually suit him a bit more. He knows how to follow orders and wield a weapon after all, and what military unit doesn't want a little more healing from a priest? Yeah.. they're not dumping him on the legion. He just fits better there... probably... right?

[Daichi]

Marital Status: You're kidding, right?

Daichi is very clearly a ronin. No mon, no resources. The clothes on his back are rough, though oddly well maintained for someone of such limited means. He hails from Otosan Uchi, and has a history of Wandering the merchant and entertainment districts, protecting those that needed protecting from rough threats.

It's common knowledge that he is a bastard, with the whispers of rumors that he is a son of a whore, though if he hears anyone say as such he is willing to answer that insult with a challenge of steel.

On his person, he always carries a katana that is well loved and shows embellishment well above his station. But also at his waist is an empty sheath of a wakizashi. That sheath is adorned with the markings of a Phoenix samurai, though the sheath has seen much, much better days.

A man of honor, he has found himself lucky to be brought in to the Emerald Legion, as he serves the Emperor and all of Rokugan with all his soul. And the skill to show why he has lived so long as a wave-man.

[Utaku Mukai]

Other than her Unicorn colors Mukai does not present much of the stereotype they might imagine when they hear 'Utaku'. Her hair is cut short, her chest bound tight, and 'maiden' is very low on the list of terms one would apply upon seeing her even if they didn't know how she'd react at being called such. This, of course, is be design and by desire. Mukai has no issues being a woman but the last thing she wants is to be mistaken for one of the contemptible Battle Maidens and their backward traditions. It is very telling that the Shinjo mon, kept pristine, is large and close to her heart while that of her family is nearly forgotten and often stained with the dirt of travel.

While it would not be quite correct to call Mukai anti-social, she does not actively dislike being around others, a short temper and a short life spent often in the wilderness has left her lacking in social skill and even worse when it comes to a knowledge of the arts and other courtly matters. That said as long as the conversation is grounded and one avoids triggering her anger she is as sociable as any other legionnaire.

Just never, ever call her a Battle Maiden.

[Kitsuki Edogawa]

Edogawa seems like a friendly, playful sort. His tone is generally pleasant and good-natured, and often mirthful. He is often found writing, playing a game or idly tossing the wooden toy he carries.

But, he is a harbinger of death. He is the last living member of his family. He's lost his mentor and his first betrothed as well. How many other bodies are there? Who will he curse next? These are the whispers that follow him. They are perhaps why he has joined the Legion, to better understand his curse. Or, perhaps, to spare his new betrothed from it.

[Agasha Shione]

Agasha Shione is a promising young alchemist of the Dragon Clan. Her sensei, in true Dragon fashion, decided that Shione could learn more, faster, out in the world and seconded her to the Imperial Legions whereupon Shione has kind of been stuck for the last couple of years.

The work is fulfilling for after all what else are other considerations to meeting one's duties and obligations to one's lord and the Emperor to a samurai? But Shione was expecting to get recalled back to the mountains: after all, those brilliant new discoveries she's surely to make won't be discovering themselves.

News of the march to the Wall has, well, soured the mood of the young Agasha immensely. This is very much in the -opposite- direction of where she thought she'd be going. Nevertheless, one must make do with what one has. Who is to say what discoveries can be made in this new development? But who can also say how much such things would cost...
