The army was on the move, like some great beast, eating up mile after mile of Crane lands. However, there were differences among the groups. The second Kaisha were definitely the early risers, out to Scout as soon as the first rays of Lady Sun graced them with the ability to see. Of course, they also were the first to come to a halt as the peasants attached to them starting setting up the camp for everyone.
Fifth Kaisha, being much closer to the end of the beast, rose later, with their peasants doing more towards the breaking down. Everyone marched the same miles, but experienced the day just slightly differently.
For example, some people liked to march around to the sound of tiny ringing bells while they smiled at everyone and everything. Of course, that only reallya applied to the chui in charge of the fifth, but there he rode, making sure the supply wagons were properly loaded and no one was sneaking off. Desertion wasn't really a problem for the Imperial Legions, and certainly not this early in the march, but still, Fuwanan liked to expect the unexpected.
