How is Yoshiko and tanking in a boss fight? Because we need a squad for that.
I am trying to have my courtier get wrung out so the bushi and combat shuggies are fresh

There's no limit on participation in the boss fight, which is interesting. It's a chance to use them shuji to short him out, and considering how unlikely it is I'm gonna hit my limit on strife now that I took none in stage 2, I might give it a shot.

Just woke up and just got internet back after last night's long outage.
Stay tuned, but Kaigen's a pretty blunt instrument.
That said, my availability for the next two days is... "I'll be at work," so I might just try the Tactics roll, since a real 5E combat is something I have literally never done.
EDIT: On the other hand, if Kaigen beats the goblin, we complete this phase. And he has zwero ranks in Command, so the Tactics roll is a real crapshoot.
He's got solid stats, but nothing better than a katana to fight with, so his usefulness in a boss fight is questionable.
Lemme at that goblin.

She is pretty good at tanking. Hida defender is build for that.

FWIW there are a few hacks for this event:
Fighting in void ring means you ignore Strife on your dice
both player and goblin will take a Strife AND Fatigue at the start of each round (1 at start, 2 at second pass etc)
If the goblin exceeds Composure of 6 as this is part of a Clash you can make a finishing blow attack out of turn (if he takes/is inflicted with 4 or more strife in round 1) he's open.
You can spend a VP to not take fatigue and instead resist minor damage to the ring you are in when hit. Can be resisted down to armor damage

I'm going to be optimistic and assume Kaigen kills his goblin so I'll hold back on rolling until the next stage.
If I'm wrong in my optimism I'll throw Mukai at a goblin after him since she's also Focus 5 and can wrap the stage if she wins.
Edit: Hmmm, actually the goblins are the same for 2 and 3 so let me throw a question to the GMs as a potential timesaver

So, I have the following as an option.

Would there be any way to attempt Slippery Maneuvers to help secure an advantageous position in Stage Two?
Apologies for the delay in response; had to get back to my books.
To answer: for Stage Two, no--but for Stage 3, yes. You'd make the check in lieu of taking your own direct action, allowing another player--either named or "next person to roll"--to make the enemy's counter-attack roll at the greater difficulty. That is, the counter-attack would be rolled not against TN 3, but against TN 4 or more (depending on opportunity spends), but the player's attack roll would be against TN 3.
I'll likely do this for stage three. If anyone wants me to do it for them specifically, let me know.

*Catching up to see if there's a use for fragile shugenja there*
Invocations only push 1 Momentum (and 1 Attrition or Panic), so not nearly as useful as the goblin fighters. But if we need more to hit the goal there, I'll pitch Jade Strike at it.

Mukai managed to not even get scratched so is available to assist in the boss battle when the time comes depending on how many can join. (She's at 6/12 for Strife)

It is worth pointing out that since we are nearly to the boss battle, those who intended to square off against him need to leave VERY detailed ghosting instructions in their PF. I know everyone wants a piece of him, and I will try my best to accomidate, but time zones are still real

There, cleared the stage, but better not expect Kaigen to do anything in the boss fight XD
