Should be in GM Questions, but there are washing facilities available. This is a common enough staging area that there are permanent fixtures--although not fancy, by any stretch. Washing is available; soaking is limited. Think of it like a campground bathhouse.

Okay, five days in, Kaigen hasn't got a horse in the heir race, and hasn't gleaned ANY information to influence that decision.

Putting an OOC feeler out there to see if anybody wants him to throw his poitns one way or the other, because as of right this second, they're all uncommitted, not because he supports the Shadowlands, but because from what he knows, the choice of heir makes zero difference to things he actually cares about

I think the fact that it's a metagame thing and runs across multiple games means that having an OOC preference dictate things is fine. In my case, I have IC reasons for a choice (since OOC, I think either would be interesting), but might have just flipped a coin if I didn't have an obvious tie-in for a Phoenix preference.

Hametsu's decision was based on the fact that Toturi's the guy that signs off on promotions, and Toturi wants Daisetsu to inherit.

I can't claim to know what's particularly important to Kaigen, but perhaps the fact that Toturi (or a guy that reports to Toturi) is the one signing his paycheck counts? I know it can be that simple for a lot of people in historical succession crises (English Civil War comes to mind).
