[Daidoji Nobu]

After the Kuni interrogation and subsequent briefing, Daidoji Nobu found his way to his assigned quarters. His rank had earned him the right to a small, private cubicle, and the big Crane stowed his gear there, neatly against one wall.

Nobu then ventured into the communal area to meet the other soldiers quartered there, in hopes of ingratiating himself with them. He knew well that “the new guy” always got the worst and most dangerous duties, and the sooner Nobu could get rid of that label and be seen as a proper member of the garrison, the better.
