Now, with his receipt and promise of delivery in hand (after a quick but persuasive negotiation), Hametsu strode out of the lumber wholesalers yard with a new verve in his step. Things had been accomplished! As he moved down the street, all was right with the world.

Kaigen... wasn't much of a storyteller, in the grand scheme of things.

But he seemed not to have alarmed some of the local color too badly, and a few were nodding at the prospect of of at least some decent pay.

A rice ball in hand, and his bedroll beckoning, Kaigen spotted...
