[Agasha Daikumo]

Off in the distance, Daikumo can see the grand architecture of Kyuden Doji. He's never seen a building so large and grand before. It's... too ostentatious for his tastes. He hands off the message he was given by his commander in the fourth to one of the functionaries in the command structure. As he's walking along, waiting for any response to the message to be given for him to return he kind of looks at the building in the distance. "That's a fancy castle," he says to nobody in particular.

"It is that, Agasha-san," comes a voice from behind him, which emerges from a slender man in a tall courtier's cap and a horo, carrying what appears to be a portable desk. "Quite fancy, indeed."

There's a slight nod of the hatted head toward the towering Dragon. "And it's just as fancy inside, I assure you, though nothing about the place is so wonderful as those who dwell within."

Kaigen, having delivered his own missive- a scouting report from the cavalry being delivered by an infantryman to officers who had their own horses for the most part, for army logic worked in mysterious ways- gave the vista a once-over. It was hard to say what he made of it, going off of his expression, which didn't change in the slightest.

" I actually tend to have that opinion about most buildings Miya-sama. The people almost invariably make any dwelling better for their presence," Daikumo replies, giving the Miya a quick but respectful bow. "Even in the poorest home of the poorest district of the poorest city in the empire, one can generally find the warmth and love of family living each day to the best of their ability."

The passing Usagi gets a nod when he is near.

The Miya also inclines his head...slightly.

"So Agasha-san is a traveled man, then?" Ugemi asks. "Or perhaps a well-read one?

"And what of Usagi-san?" he adds, though his lips quirk slightly.

"I took a minor pilgrimage to some of the temples devoted to the fortunes a few years back. Those in the northern provinces, among Lion, Phoenix and Dragon lands. So I have seen some of the empire, but a far cry from all of it. It's a shame that I won't get to see the temple of Benten here in Crane lands. Well, not going this direction. Perhaps when I am heading home, should my service to the legion not end in honorable sacrifice," Daikumo says, acknowledging and clearly not worried or lamenting the possibility.

"Hm? Oh, hardly, Miya-sama. Travel papers are not issued on a whim, after all. Been to the Fox lands a time or two, and my path to joining the Legion took me through this way going the opposite direction "

He listened to the Dragon's account without much-if any-visible reaction.

"But all in all this little excursion marks more travel beyond the lands of the Hare than my usual, although I'm somewhat amused to be essentially retracing my steps."

"Ah." Ugemi nods. "I see."

Looking up at the Agasha, he adds "It may also be that your service with the Legion persists beyond this campaign. It is a grim truth that there will be a need for experienced personnel after this is over, and you will have at least one season with the Legion when it is done."

He turns his face to the Usagi. "True, too, for you, of course.

"But this is not going to be some easy thing, no mere enforcement of a treaty. No, Mirumoto-rikugunshokan has determined that this Legion will answer the need of the Crab, at least for a time, and I do not think this is a thing for which many of us are prepared. Many Hiruma I know would say nobody is."

"Ah." Ugemi nods. "I see."

"That may happen as well," the Agasha replies with a nod. "But even so, at some point I will need to return home since my family is currently engaging others, seeking to arrange a betrothal for me. Eventually I will need to handle that aspect of my life, should my life continue. I will either die or return home at some point, regardless of if I spend the rest of my life serving the Legion, because duty demands it."

He looks to the Uesugi, "Retracing your steps? You've been this way previously then?"

"That...is an unusual route," he says. "Were you tasked with making deliveries along the way, Usagi-san?"

" That is definitely the long way around by my understanding. Was someone trying to mess with you by making you take that path? Hopefully not, since it seems to me like that would be interfering with the legion's mission by making a member of the legion go So far out of their way just to meet up with the rest."

Ugemi coughs lightly.

"That...is an unusual route," he says. "Were you tasked with making deliveries along the way, Usagi-san?"

"No. I believe it was an issue of who it was easier to obtain permission from."

He glanced from the Imperial to the Dragon.

"Minor Clans, it should be said, don't always get to do things in a straightforward manner."

"That is unfortunately the case," Ugemi says. "For what it is worth, Usagi-san, I hope the trip was pleasant and instructive."

"I hope you don't have to take such a roundabout path later," Daikumo replies. "It sounds supremely inconvenient and unnecessary to do so over the size of your clan."

"It wasn't so bad. The Crane are big on hospitality, even to relatively humble guests. But I wouldn't mind taking a more direct route in future."

He looked to the south.

"But, you know, one journey at a time."

"There's wisdom in that, Usagi-san," Ugemi agrees.

Daikumo replies, "Yeah. Never know if the journey after the one you're on will be to meet Emma-O. No planning for that journey, we all just kind of get there when it's our time to get there. Some folks get there sooner dreaming about the next journey and not paying attention to the one they're on. Gotta take care of this one first."
