Some Notes about Rumors

Even on the march, rumors abound.

Some of them are pre-planned. What NPCs will discuss what, we already have some ideas...

Some will be player-planted. We encourage this, although the consequences for being found out...may not be ideal. Once per in-game day per PC, a character may make a Courtesy check, TN 3 (Air 2, Earth 4), to spread a rumor about a character of equal or higher Glory rank. The rumor may be favorable or unfavorable, as desired, and it might well even be true. Opportunities may be spent on the roll *only* as follows:

• 1 Opp: Allow a spread of rumor against a character of 5 Glory Points less than the spreading character per Opp spent this way
• 2 Opps: Increase the TN to determine the source of the rumor by 1 for every 2 Opps spent this way

Similarly, rumors and their sources can be sussed out. For posted rumors, once per in-game day per PC, a character may make a Sentiment check to pursue details about one rumor. If a TN is listed with that rumor, that is the TN of the Sentiment check. If no TN is listed, instead of the Sentiment check, roll 2d20. Pursuing the source of the rumor will yield, instead, an information tidbit that may be pursued on subsequent days in the same fashion as a rumor (that is, once per in-game day per PC, and only for one).

Rolls may be made in public or in personal forums; they *must* be linked in personal forums, in any event. Responses will appear in personal forums.

At least one time-slot must be dedicated to spreading a rumor. At least one time-slot must be dedicated to pursuing the source of a rumor.

Since it's been asked, dedicating time slots to rumor/rumor investigation is to keep the flow of rumors to a managable level, rather than having someone bored spam out a dozen. You do not need to create an rp thread for rumor spreading/investigation, though you are free to do so.
