Re: Doji Hametsu Q&A
Deeply sketch. Your initial offer to do whatever for Kumiko showed up for me in that moment between when one starts drafting a post and when one actually submits it, so I did the "whoa, I am...not here" thing as a natural reaction. But the whole spiel taught me that I shouldn't take the jealousy dis...

Re: Doji Hametsu Q&A
The thread was lovely, thank you! The betrothal issue was a little complicated, but basically the Kaiu are trying to arrange a marriage as a sort of alliance mechanism and Hametsu's mother looks at it more as a way of dumping her failed offspring. Hametsu's mother believes that the only worthwhile c...

Re: Doji Hametsu Q&A
1. Hametsu was very much in my safe zone--there weren't a ton of curveballs. I was more timid with him than I would have liked. 2. The Imperial Aide-de-Camp being so fun. I should have had further threads with him. 3. I think I ought to have tried approaching the general and tried to brown-nose hard...

Re: Doji Hametsu Q&A
I enjoyed Hametsu, so I'd like to see him return. Thus: what contexts? Thank you for being part of this! He could come back easily in another military game involving the Crab, Crane, or Imperial Legions. Which one of those the game was set in would likely determine how his future developed in the i...

Doji Hametsu Q&A
Questions asked, questions answered. If there are future games (I sure hope so!) in this setting, Hametsu will only appear in certain very specific contexts, so I shan't hold back.

Re: Special Bonus Ending Stage!
Hametsu got down to business with the throat-cutters using a borrowed utilitarian katana to speed up the process. The work was a little galling: a thousand goblin head cuttings would take some hours, even if everyone put their backs into it. Hametsu remained stoic, however. D6 Combat Event, Bonus St...

Exactly. I have no special arrows because I could not figure out what to pay for them.

Re: Stage 4: Kill the Commander
Having followed Edogawa to more favorable ground, Hametsu turned about and saw the monster's assault on his fellow Crane. He drew himself up to his full height, resplendent in his armor, and cried out at Kippei with iron in his voice. "You have raised your sword against the Emperor's own! Desist, or...

Re: Battle Event Coordination
Not knowing what his TN and soak are, but knowing what my skills are, I think Hametsu's primary role is to use Civility Foremost to ratchet up his strife to get him to short out faster. I went Water stance so that I can also shoot him in that first round, but mostly to generate assists for bushi. If...

Re: Stage 4: Kill the Commander
Though his armor was no longer pristine (goblin blood will do that), Hametsu had managed to tear his eyes away from the mess at the right moment to spot the arrival of the commander. He knew his duty was to defeat the enemy. And he also knew that one defeats the enemy by concentrating the greatest f...

Re: Stage 3: Resist the Second Assault
Yoshi goes to rally and finds...he's just got nothing left in him. "Guys let's-" He wheezes as he goes to steady himself. "You all did good. Fortify your position as best you can, the others can push from here." He offers a beachhead, but can't push any further. And it is then that Hametsu's band o...

Re: Battle Event Coordination
There's no limit on participation in the boss fight, which is interesting. It's a chance to use them shuji to short him out, and considering how unlikely it is I'm gonna hit my limit on strife now that I took none in stage 2, I might give it a shot.

Re: Stage 2: Push Back
Hametsu quietly determined that to secure the next stage in the advance, someone would need to strike at an angle into the horde and hold, creating an opportunity for others to sweep a section of the horde into the River of the Last Stand. Squaring his shoulders, he directed a team of angry-looking ...

Re: Stage 1: Resist the First Assault
At the top of the Watchtower, the generals took tea as they watched the battle unfold. All seemed to be going to plan, and for all the shouting and cacophony from below, the command station had a sense of eerie quiet. Well, it was quiet, until the Crab commander spat out his tea in a huge spray. "FU...

Re: [D7, LE, Open] Everything In Its Proper Place
Hametsu bowed his head. "Thank you for clarifying matters, Hiruma-sama." Though your example could cut in either direction. "Will the Legion be maintained as a command separate from the Crab, or will we be placed under Crab officers?"

Re: [D7, LE, Open] Everything In Its Proper Place
Hametsu nodded. "The Rikugunshokan is wise. And it is well that we have been encouraged to follow his example. I was somewhat surprised to find in the course of my briefing that Hida Benkei-taisa was keen to impress on me that there were many, many situations he had experienced that were more severe...

Re: [D7, LE, Open] Everything In Its Proper Place
"Indeed," he replied, having bowed as expected. "The Crab supplement their tactics well, but prepared fortifications are an approach the Legion will need to adapt to. Quickly."

[D7, LE, Open] Everything In Its Proper Place
Having spent the intervening time making sure that Daidoji Kumiko's quarters were to her advantage, Hametsu took a few moments after being dismissed for the evening to head down to the great gate. Standing at an inner door looking down the deadly hall at the immensity of the thing, he felt his mind ...
